The pre-school teaching programme in our Kindergarten is primarily based on the U.K. national curriculum,"The Foundation Stage," with some modifications to incorporate our international setting. The foundation stage which encompasses children aged from 3 - 5 years follows the Early Learning Goals that are reached by a series of stepping stones. Our aim is for all our children to achieve these Goals and this they do at their own rate. (some children may exceed these Goals).

The curriculum covers 6 areas of learning, these are: -

This vital area of learning helps the children develop a positive self esteem and self confidence. It helps develop motivation, concentration and a positive approach to work. It teaches them to express their own needs and feelings while also being aware of the needs and feelings of others around them.

This area is aimed at developing the children's communication skills. Listening and speaking, questioning - when, where, how? Extending their vocabulary and sentence structure. Listening to and enjoying stories, rhymes and songs. Developing an interest in words, sounds and text and relating the sounds in words to writing.

This area helps the children to develop an understanding of numbers, shapes, measurement, patterns and mathematical language. The approach being through stories, songs, games and imaginative play.

This area forms the foundation for :
1. Science
2. Design and technology
3. History
4. Geography
5. I.T.C
6. Cultures and beliefs
It provides the opportunities for the children to discover and learn how things work and why things happen - leading to a better understanding of the world around them. Each child has access to a computer in their classroom with programmes to help further develop their reading, writing and number skills.

This area helps the children to develop and improve their coordination, manipulation and movement skills. It helps the children to develop a sense of well being as well as confidence in what they can achieve and do.

This area includes :
1. Art
2. Music and movement, dance
3. Role and imaginative play
Being creative helps children to make connections between one area of learning and another.

Our children have a Mandarin class twice a week. We have a highly qualified  teacher whose first language is Mandarin. The children are taught the different sound, tones and vocabulary through songs and games. The classes are linked to our topics.

Throughout the school the emphasis is on all round development of the individual child. We use a thematic approach and through active participation in individual, group and whole class activities our children explore a wide range of subjects.

Morning Session : 9 a.m. - 12 noon
